Thomas Bottoms Pointing

Here is my first blog entry.  Let me answer two very important questions:

  1. Who am I?
  2. Why am I here?

Who am I?  I am Thomas Bottoms, a Chicago based stand-up comedian.  I (as of this writing) produce two comedy shows a week; Comedy Cabaret @ 3160 and Tassel Free Comedy @ 240 Lounge.  I’ve been doing stand-up for 4 ½ years and have performed at Zanies (Chicago), The Edge Comedy Club (Chicago), New York Comedy Club (take a guess), Gotham Comedy Club (yup, New York City) and way too many places to list here.

Why am I here? Because my parents didn’t practice safe sex.

A blog is a way to communicate with my fans (fans fans fans….I swear I heard an echo.)  It will give you some insights into who I am and what I’m doing.

It took me almost two years to write the first entry because…well…I am a very private person.  I don’t share a lot about myself with others.  I have very close friends who don’t know many details of my life.  (Heck, I don’t even tell people my age!)

I am also a perfectionist.  I thought whatever I wrote would have to be profound, some deeper expression on the human existence.  My humble words would change the universe.

What I remembered was: greatness comes later, sometimes with time.  It doesn’t have to be good; it just has to be something.  With time, it will get better.

Let’s enjoy the ride. No obligation to keep going.
